Title: Cloud Engineer with Java programming background
Location: Jersey City, NJ or Smithfield, RI or Merrimack, NH (Onsite interview)
Duration: 12+ months
Rate: 70-80/hr on W2
 
Little bit of a unique position, the job title is Cloud Engineer, but they need someone from a Java programming background who has very strong cloud experience, someone who can take source code and set it up the environment. Eventually, this person will be doing some coding work, but to start not a ton. Please do not send any DevOps engineers that will be auto rejected. This supports the Managed & Advisory Teams, part of the broader FI Wealth Management Domain—focuses on developing and supporting products that enable managed product distribution both on and off platform.

Locations: Jersey City, Smithfield, and Merrimack are options here.
Length of Assignment: Long term, will keep extending out, this team has a lot of work to do.
Interview Process: 2 rounds, first round over zoom, then will do an in person for the final round.
 
Description:
We are seeking a Senior Backend/Cloud Engineer with strong cloud and DevOps expertise to join our agile engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who can confidently navigate complex, existing backend systems, map them to similar setups, and evolve scalable, high-performing cloud-native solutions.
This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams in an agile environment to empower web application in wealth management domain.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
  • 6+ years of experience developing enterprise solutions across multiple technology platforms, programming languages, and Data platform.
  • Expertise in backend development building in Java / Python with API first approach for scalable environment.
  • Navigate and understand existing backend systems and map or migrate them to similar cloud/infrastructure setups
  • Expertise in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automation, and system reliability
  • Deep understanding of APIs, UI development, infrastructure, security, and emerging technologies.
  • Strong experience using Java, Java EE/Jakarta EE, Spring Framework/Spring Boot, Kafka, and modern web application technologies.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL/Oracle)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, including deployment and architecture best practices.
  • Proven experience working with microservices architectures and microfrontend applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to translate business needs into scalable technology solutions.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
