Enterprise Enablement – Dev Foundation (Center of Excellence)
 
Role Summary
The Developer Tools Engineer is a senior, strategic individual contributor within the Enterprise Enablement organization’s Dev Foundation team. This team operates as a Center of Excellence (COE), setting enterprise standards, best practices, and guardrails for software development, DevOps, and platform engineering.
This role blends software development, platform engineering, DevOps, and analytics to enhance ExxonMobil’s strategic developer platforms. The engineer acts as a trusted advisor to the broader developer community—driving adoption, improving developer experience, and delivering data‑driven insights that guide enterprise DevOps maturity. The role reports to the Delivery Team Product Owner and partners closely with Cyber Security, platform teams, and engineering leadership.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills

  • Enterprise Source Control & CI/CD Expertise – Deep hands‑on experience with GitHub Enterprise and enterprise CI/CD patterns
  • Artifact & Package Management – Advanced expertise with jFrog (Artifactory) and/or Nexus in large-scale environments
  • Data Analytics & Visualization – Strong Power BI skills with the ability to generate actionable DevOps insights
  • Platform Integration & Automation – Proven ability to automate and integrate developer platforms using APIs and scripting
  • Advisory & Enablement Mindset – Experience mentoring developers and influencing standards across a large enterprise

Key Responsibilities
  • Define, document, and disseminate best practices for source code management, CI/CD pipelines, and artifact management across the enterprise
  • Consult with and mentor development teams on DevOps, CI/CD, and platform usage, acting as a subject matter expert
  • Design and build integrations and automations between strategic developer platforms and ExxonMobil’s Internal Developer Portal
  • Leverage scripting languages and platform APIs to develop analytics, dashboards, and visualizations that inform DevOps adoption, performance, and decision‑making
  • Partner with Cyber Security teams to enhance the organization’s application security posture
  • Develop reusable forms, templates, and components to accelerate developer onboarding and platform adoption
  • Assess existing platform management processes and recommend optimization and modernization opportunities
  • Provide expert‑level platform support to the developer community
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with multiple technical and non‑technical departments
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver training and documentation for strategic developer platforms
  • Stay current on software development, DevOps, and platform engineering trends
  • Mentor engineers and analysts within the Dev Foundation team
