Job Description: Consumer Banking (SRE, AI, DevOps)
Wells Fargo is seeking a lead modernization, observability, and automation efforts across monolithic and cloud-native applications within the Consumer Banking space. This role is embedded in the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) organization and will drive resiliency through deep inspection, gap analysis, and hands-on engineering across microservices, Kubernetes, and containerized platforms.

The Platform Engineer will serve as a strategic advisor to leadership, mentor platform engineers, and actively participate in production incident resolution to reduce mean time to recovery (MTTR). This role requires a blend of technical depth, cross-functional collaboration, and strong communication skills.
? Key Responsibilities
· Lead deep inspection of legacy and modern cloud applications, identifying gaps and implementing observability (alerting, alarming, distributed tracing).
· Drive automation-first behaviors through CI/CD pipeline engineering and infrastructure as code.
· Act as a technical advisor to leadership across application, network, security, and database domains.
· Attend and troubleshoot high-impact production incidents; lead postmortems and thematic stability improvements.
· Mentor platform engineers and influence prioritization of non-functional and resiliency work.
· Guide modernization efforts and participate in architectural discussions to embed resiliency patterns.
· Create reusable automation and supportability assets (playbooks, self-healing scripts, documentation).
· Interface with Tech Leads, Product Managers, Architects, and Dev PEs across multiple product areas.

Qualifications

· 5 - 7+ years of engineering experience
· Deep understanding of network, OS, and middleware stacks
· 5 - 7 years of monitoring automation, DevOps engineering, resiliency automation
· Experience with distributed tracing across internet topologies
· Ability to troubleshoot and communicate incident analysis in real-time
· Equivalent engineering experience through work, training, military, or education
Desired
· Splunk log analysis and tracing
· GCP, AWS, Azure, OpenShift
· Dynatrace, AppDynamics or comparable Application Performance Management tools
· Scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
· Unix/Linux and cloud troubleshooting
