Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Windows COBOL
and SQL Developer to join our team supporting a legacy system modernization
initiative. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with COBOL
on Windows platforms and a solid foundation in SQL development. This position
will primarily be based in Irvine, CA, with a secondary option in
Boston, MA. Remote work is allowed only for exceptional candidates.
Responsibilities:
Develop,
maintain, and enhance applications written in Windows-based COBOL.
Write,
optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and
scripts.
Troubleshoot
and resolve application issues, performance bottlenecks, and system bugs.
Analyze
existing code and data workflows to support modernization and integration
efforts.
Collaborate
with business analysts, QA teams, and other developers to deliver
solutions.
Create
and maintain documentation for programs, systems, and processes.
Required Skills:
5+
years of experience with Windows COBOL development
Strong
proficiency in SQL (preferably Microsoft SQL Server or similar
RDBMS)
Experience
working with legacy systems in financial or insurance domains is a plus
Strong
problem-solving and debugging skills
Good
communication and documentation abilities
Ability to work independently or as part of a
team
