Executive Summary
This is one of the first strategic hires within the newly formed Data & Analytics organization and will serve as the primary business-facing analytics leader. While the title is "Lead," this is currently an individual contributor role with significant influence across the business and oversight of consultant-delivered work.
The biggest takeaway from the intake is that executive presence, business partnership, roadmap ownership, and stakeholder management are more important than being a hands-on technical expert. They need someone to be able to walk into a room with business leaders, understand operational challenges, prioritize analytics initiatives, and drive adoption.
What the Role Actually Does
Many candidates will misunderstand this position if recruiters focus solely on Power BI or reporting experience.
This is NOT primarily a dashboard developer role.
This person will act as the bridge between:
Business Leaders ⬇ Data & Analytics Team ⬇ Consultants Building Solutions
Responsibilities include:
Business Partnership
Meet with senior stakeholders
Understand operational challenges
Gather requirements
Identify reporting gaps
Define business outcomes
Prioritization & Roadmapping
Evaluate competing requests
Determine business value
Establish priorities
Build analytics roadmaps
Sequence initiatives appropriately
Requirements & Solution Design
Work with data engineering teams

Help define reporting datasets

Translate business needs into analytics solutions
Deployment & Adoption
Once dashboards and reports are delivered, this person is responsible for:
Conducting training
Explaining KPI calculations
Driving adoption
Measuring utilization
Ensuring the business receives value
Success is not just building dashboards.
Success is getting the organization to actually use them.
Key Business Problem
This is arguably the most important piece of the entire intake.
Client has:
Significant reporting needs
Minimal standardization today
Manual processes in many areas
Large demand for analytics
They effectively need approximately twenty dashboards immediately.
The challenge is not building one dashboard.
The challenge is:
Understanding all business needs
Determining priority
Understanding expected ROI
Building a roadmap
Coordinating delivery
Candidates who have only gathered requirements for one-off reporting projects will likely struggle.
The ideal candidate has owned analytics portfolios and prioritized enterprise-scale reporting initiatives.
