  • ABET-Accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical Preferred)
    • This is a strict requirement. Candidates must hold a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program or meet one of the other approved equivalency paths listed under the “REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA.”
  • Relevant Electrical Engineering Experience in an Industrial or Utility Environment
    • At least 2 years of engineering experience for the Engineer level or 5+ years for Senior Engineer. The experience must include working with systems like electrical distribution equipment, generators, relay and motor control systems, SF6 breakers, and UPS systems.
  • Ability to Work Safely in Challenging Physical Environments
    • Must be comfortable working in confined spaces, underground tunnels, elevated heights, and around water. Fieldwork in rugged terrain is essential and must be done independently.
 
Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:  Root cause analysis and problem solving; equipment condition assessment (vibration, oil analysis, etc.); equipment specification development and review; troubleshooting of electrical systems and programmable logic controllers; management of station breaker monitoring program; review and issuing Digging, Drilling or Cutting Permits; overseeing and interacting with contractors and consultants; perform capital project review; performing generator and equipment inspections; and performing other duties as assigned.  This posting is for one position, which will be filled at the level (Engineer or Senior Engineer) commensurate with the successful candidate's experience and skill level. 
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Engineer:
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Knowledge and application of engineering theories, principles, concepts, and fundamentals
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters
  • Developmental experience in a professional engineering position
  • Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Understanding and application of configuration management
  • Planning, organizational, and project management skills
  • Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer software to assist in preparation of reports, presentations, database development and data review
  • Knowledge of plant electrical distribution equipment, generator equipment, relay and motor control systems, battery and uninterruptible power systems, SF6 breakers, and frequency converter
  • Must be able to analyze problems and provide solutions (demonstrated results)
  •  Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices
  • Must be able to work safely in a plant environment including confined spaces, around water, at elevated heights, and in underground tunnels


Senior Engineer:
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters
  • Skilled in advanced techniques and modification of theories, precepts, and practices
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead
  • Strong personal computer skills
  • In-depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs
  • Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer software to assist in preparation of reports, presentations, database development and data review
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team leader
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (includes technical writing)
  • Knowledge of plant electrical distribution equipment, generator equipment, relay and motor control systems, battery and uninterruptible power systems, SF6 breakers, and frequency converter

Education Requirements
Minimum of bachelor's degree in engineering (engineering technology degrees are not acceptable for this position).
 
Strongly Preferred: Electrical Engineering 
 
REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
•    Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
•    Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
•    Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
•    Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET
