District Partners is supporting a national security-focused technology firm is hiring a Test Design Electrical Engineer to develop and lead high-scale test automation and validation for complex network-centric electronic systems. This is not just a testing role—we’re looking for a strong Electrical Engineer who can take ownership of hardware design, testing strategy, and cross-functional integration from end to end.
You'll be building test infrastructure for high-reliability systems deployed at scale, with a heavy emphasis on network and communications infrastructure, system-level thinking, and automated validation platforms. The ideal candidate can zoom in on PCB details, but also step back and troubleshoot across an entire system stack.

Top 3 Professional Attributes:
  • Owns the full development of test frameworks – from concept to deployment.
  • Experienced with large-scale production of networking/comms infrastructure equipment.
  • Cross-functional thinker – can understand and troubleshoot across mechanical, electrical, and firmware components.

Required Technical Skills:
  • Networking experience – this is non-negotiable (ideally Cisco-level familiarity).
  • Experience with network-centric circuit boards and embedded systems.
  • Strong LabVIEW skills – must be able to create or modify test automation using LabVIEW.
  • Python scripting (Rust or C++ is a plus).
  • Schematic capture and PCBA layout experience.
  • EMI/EMC compliance knowledge applied at scale.
  • Solid foundation in hardware design – not just testing.
  • Familiarity with power electronics, digital circuitry, and electrical compliance standards.

What You’ll Do:
  • Design and deliver complete test solutions for custom PCBAs and Line Replaceable Units (LRUs).
  • Lead the entire test automation lifecycle: Requirements → Design → Build → Integrate → Deploy.
  • Own and evolve test infrastructure to scale from prototype to production.
  • Troubleshoot test systems and product-level electrical issues, driving root cause analysis and fixes.
  • Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and manufacturing teams to align testing and product quality.
  • Contribute to requirements generation, schematic reviews, and system-level integration planning.

Location & Clearance:
  • Must work onsite in Reston or McLean, VA
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred)
  • Relocation assistance is provided

Compensation & Perks:
  • Up to $215,000 base salary
  • Equity options included based on experience and technical scope
  • High-ownership role with direct impact on national security programs
