We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a high-performing delivery team supporting a large-scale Snowflake migration initiative. This role is focused on modernizing and rewriting legacy MSSQL SSIS ETL pipelines into a cloud-native architecture using DBT and Snowflake.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, effective communication skills, strong discernment for maximizing AI tools for effective outcomes, and proven experience working directly with external clients in an Agile delivery environment. This is a delivery-focused role with clear expectations around productivity, quality, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze existing SSIS ETL packages and translate transformation logic into DBT models
  • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines in Snowflake
  • Implement and manage data orchestration workflows using Dagster / Dagster+
  • Work closely with client stakeholders and delivery teams to understand requirements, clarify logic, and drive work to completion
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies.
  • Deliver against defined productivity expectations (e.g., backlog throughput / story completion)
  • Leverage customer-provided AI tools and accelerators to improve development speed, accuracy, and validation
  • Ensure code quality through testing, validation, and adherence to established templates and standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of migration processes, tooling, and best practices.

What Success Looks Like in This Role
  • Effectively embeds into the Data Engineering Team, adopting standards, tools, and working agreements.
  • Consistently delivers high-quality and cost-effective DBT models that accurately replicate legacy SSIS logic.
  • Meets or exceeds expected delivery velocity within sprint cycles and ensures data integrity.
  • Leverages AI tools to accelerate development and validation.
  • Produces maintainable, scalable, and well-documented data pipelines.
  • Brings discernment to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Leans into ambiguity with intent-based communication.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or ETL development
  • Proven experience migrating legacy ETL frameworks to modern cloud-based data platforms
  • Hands-on experience converting or working with SSIS pipelines
  • Strong experience with:
    • DBT (DBT Cloud preferred)
    • Snowflake
    • Advanced SQL development
    • Python for data engineering
    • Dagster / Dagster+ for data orchestration
  • Proven ability to work in client-facing roles, with strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Familiarity with Git-based version control (GitHub)
  • Ability to work independently in a delivery-driven environment with defined throughput expectations

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience with Fivetran or similar EL tools
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server / legacy data warehouse environments
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development tools or automation frameworks
  • Experience with data pipeline observability tools (e.g., Grafana)
  • Familiarity with .NET development
  • Experience with large-scale data migration or modernization programs

Work Environment
  • Remote (U.S.-based)
  • Embedded within a client delivery team
  • Agile, sprint-based execution model with clear backlog and prioritization
