Project Overview
The Division of Technology Services is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting multiple mission-critical applications. This position will also assist in enhancing the agency’s facilities and network documentation efforts, contributing to a dashboard-driven view of agency assets. The position reports directly to the Senior Network Architect.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and implement LAN and wireless infrastructure, including switches, cabling, access points, and related components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex network issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term preventive solutions.
• Monitor and optimize network performance, documenting incident resolution paths and maintaining consistent system reliability.
• Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), network diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Assist in hardware and network design, configuration, and infrastructure planning to support scalability and modernization efforts.
• Maintain a complete and current inventory of network equipment and assist in lifecycle management and upgrade planning.
• Evaluate and recommend emerging networking technologies for integration into existing environments.
• Collaborate with Facilities and Finance teams to maintain a master inventory of agency locations, capturing property ownership, address, county, square footage, network bandwidth, and related facility details.
• Record and manage parking, access control systems, cost data, and staff assignments for each facility.
• Work directly with the Senior Network Architect (James) on floor plan and system inventory updates.

• Enhance office floor plans with workstation and equipment placements for accurate visual mapping.
• Develop and maintain a centralized facilities dashboard in collaboration with DTS staff that:
• Displays all facility data and key operational metrics.
• Links to PDF/CAD floor plans and incorporates personnel, network, and system data.
• Ensures facility data is accurate, accessible, and reportable.
• Conduct physical audits of network closets, ensuring organization, labeling, and adherence to industry standards.
• Maintain “as-built” CAD/PDF network diagrams, including cable pathways, patch panels, and rack layouts across all 68 office locations.
• Perform on-site cellular signal strength assessments using SIM-based tools to support SD-WAN carrier selection and optimization.
• Comprehensive network closet audit reports with before/after photos and patch documentation.
• Up-to-date floor plans and network layouts for all 68 offices.
• Updated SOPs and documentation for network patching standards and closet organization.
• Completed facilities dashboard with integrated and validated facility data.
Education and Certifications:
• A bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or a related field and experience in information technology systems or a related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis
Required Experience:
• Basic to moderately complex understanding of data network services and data communications principles and operations.
• Moderately complex to advanced knowledge of data network design methodologies and equipment configuration requirements.
• Comprehensive knowledge of office automation systems, information processing operations, fiber optics, and microcomputer hardware/software, with awareness of current trends in data network connectivity.
• Proficiency in computer system analysis, design, testing, debugging, and maintenance using industry best practices.
• Ability to prepare and present technical and non-technical reports clearly, concisely, and effectively to diverse audiences.
Preferred Experience:
• Advanced knowledge of network configuration, protocols, and infrastructure management.
• Skilled in cable management, patch panel organization, fiber optics installation, and troubleshooting within telecom and network closets.
• Proven ability to create clear, detailed documentation for configurations, procedures, and incident resolution logs.
• Familiar with wireless infrastructure, cloud networking technologies (SD-WAN, Azure), and VoIP systems for modern enterprise environments.
